A CARLISLE man accused of sexually assaulting a woman during a single incident is facing a trial at the city’s crown court.
Daniel Gitu, 33, from London Road, allegedly committed the offence at Dalston in August 2021. During a brief appearance before magistrates at the city’s Rickergate court, Gitu formally denied all four charges.
After hearing details of the allegations, magistrates declined jurisdiction and said the case should go to Carlisle Crown Court for an initial hearing on April 27. In the meantime, the defendant was granted unconditional bail.
The defendant works at a north Cumbrian pub, the court was told.
