A BEREAVED mum has raised thousands of pounds for charity after leaping from the skies in memory of her daughter, who is “on her mind every day”.
Mandy Robinson, of Egremont, completed a charity skydive in Flookburgh on March 4, with her friend, Vivien Patterson.
Mandy's daughter, Rhegane Carruthers tragically died by suicide in 2018, aged 22 and since then, Mandy has raised a total of £26,000 for charity.
Speaking about the skydive, Mandy said: “It was fantastic. What an experience.
“In the morning I was absolutely fine but when I was getting higher and higher in the plane, I was thinking, I can’t do this. But then I thought, no, I’m doing it for Rhegane. Before I knew it, I was out.
“Rhegane would never have thought I’d have done it. If things had been different, I wouldn’t have. Never in a million years.”

The skydive has raised £4,283 which will be split between Cruse Bereavement and suicide prevention charity, Every Life Matters.
Mandy said: “I’m overwhelmed. If I have helped one person or one family, I feel it’s all been worth it.
“You just don’t know when it’s going to happen to you. You never think it’s going to happen to you. People can go downhill within days or weeks.”
Speaking about the devastating loss of her daughter, Mandy said: “I miss her so much. She’d have been coming up 28. She is just so loved and so missed. She’s in my head 24/7.
“She never goes away. She’s my first thought and last thought every day.
“It’s heartbreaking. You see her friends moving on - getting married and having babies – and I just think, that could have been Rhegane.
“I don’t think I’ll ever get over it. I just think it’s learning to live with it and I just take each day as it comes because each day is different. You can be doing ok and then, it takes you. I still have meltdowns.”
Mandy added: “I would like to say a massive thank you to absolutely everybody who has made a donation over the last five years and everybody who has been there for me.”
