BRAMPTON Primary School has paid tribute to 'well-liked' ex-head Geof Walker.

It was announced last week that Geof, who was head teacher at Brampton Primary School for six years and had been in teaching for 35 years, had passed away peacefully at home.

Since then tributes have been flowing in from the local community for the former teacher who was well known for his 'legendary' Shakespearean plays that he organised with the children.

In addition, Geof made the scripts for these plays readily available online so that others could get the benefits of theatre.

After hearing the news, Brampton Primary School headteacher Richard Clark also shared his heartfelt condolences to Geof's family and spoke about his legacy at the local school.

He said: "Geof certainly was a big part of the community here in Brampton.

"He put the school bonfire fireworks to music each year and his Shakespeare plays are something of legend.

"He merged Brampton Infants and Brampton Juniors to become the primary school we know today.

"He was well-liked and a huge part of the community with his booming laugh, daily bear hugs, and called everyone he met 'flower pot'."
