A MAN is thanking those who supported him during a marathon for a charity that helped his family through a tough time.
Jack Patrick, 19, is pleased with the success of raising over £1,140 for Hospice at Home Carlisle and North Lakeland by running in Carlisle's half marathon on Sunday, March 12.
Jack ran with over 1,200 participants at the event which starts and finishes at Brunton Park Football Stadium.
Despite never running in a marathon before, Jack surprised himself and completed it in 1 hour and 43minutes.
Jack was eager to participate in the marathon, as he thought it was the perfect time to do it in memory of his grandad.
He also thought it would be a good opportunity to raise money for a charity who helped his family before and after his grandad passed away.
Reflecting on his achievement and fondly remembering his grandad, who everyone affectionately called 'doh', Jack said: "I would like to thank everyone who has donated and supported our family over the past few weeks. That was for you, doh.
"I knew that I would have a lot of support but never really had a target.
"But I am still very grateful for the donations."
