A drug-driver caught on the A66 has been banned from the roads for a year.

Christopher McDonald, 45, was driving a Volkswagen Golf west bound at Cockermouth on November 9 last year.

He had 4.3mcg of Delta-9-tetrahydrocannabinol per litre of blood. The legal limit is 2mcg.

McDonald, of Bridge End, Egremont, pleaded guilty to driving a motor vehicle with a proportion of a specified controlled drug above the specified limit.

He was banned from driving for 12 months and fined £369. He must also pay £85 costs.
