POLICE are 'exceptionally proud' to announce the graduation of their latest Police Constable Degree Apprenticeship (PCDA) cohorts. 

The group which have undergone their degree with the University of Central Lancashire have been performing operational policing duties after joining during the pandemic. 

Dr. Rob Ewin, head of learning and development said:  “The Constabulary are exceptionally proud of the first PCDA (Police Constable Degree Apprenticeship) to graduate; navigating their degree with operational policing duties.

"This first cohort of PCDA officers, who joined us in 2020, had the challenge of a new national programme and the COVID-19 pandemic.

"Whilst the programme is a challenge, it does provide a number rigorous milestones where enhanced problem solving skills are required. It is designed to leave officers equipped to protect the public of Cumbria.

"It was a proud moment for the officers as well as their friends, families and colleagues and it is right to recognise them and all operational and academic colleagues within the organisation, as well as the University of Central Lancashire, who assisted these officers with their studies.

"This graduation was an opportunity to recognise the success of our officers and we will have many more to come as we deliver the increased number of police officers to the public of Cumbria.”
