A TATTOO artist to the stars - including the late Amy Winehouse - is to exhibit his works in Whitehaven this month.
Sir Henry Hate, the Mexican/German/American, established a tattoo parlour in Shoreditch in London and has created body art for many household names.
He also lives with HIV, which is the purpose of his visit, and he will be talking about his life.
Stephen Hart, West End actor and radio presenter, will also give his story of living with HIV.
Local artists Rob Mitchell, Emma Hunt, William Miller, Maggie and Sarah Messenger, and Vulture Club artists, will have the chance to display their own works along with Sir Henry Hate.
There are an estimated 106,890 people with HIV in the UK and it is thought that one in 16 do not know they have the virus.
This event, designed to entertain but also to inform will be emphasising the positive message that more recent research and medication mean that people with HIV can lead a pretty normal life.
Julieanne Mitchell, founder of the Whitehaven charity support business is pushing the U=U message.
This stands for Undetectable = Untransmittable. Julieanne, who recently married her HIV-negative partner, said that medication now means that HIV cannot be passed on and that sexual contact is perfectly safe for those on the correct medication.
The event will be hosted by Eyes Open in Cumbria, Cumbria Sexual Health held in the Rosehill Theatre on Tuesday, March 21.
It is a free event and food and refreshments will be provided.
