BARROW AFC manager Pete Wild has spoken about the 'sheer relief' he felt after the Bluebirds defeated Bradford City last weekend.

Josh Kay's strike was all Barrow needed to claim victory over Mark Hughes' Bantams and end a six-match winless streak.

After the game, Wild passionately celebrated the result with the 511 travelling Bluebirds supporters, who he had praised for their commitment to the club.

He said: "First of all, what a phenomenal number of fans for a team having an inconsistent time. Over 500 fans still wanting to travel to Bradford I think is fantastic and a testament to the football club.

"Secondly, it is relief. We work ever so hard for this football club to try and get results and try and move the football club in the right direction and it quite frankly has not gone our way over the last couple of months so to be able to come home with a victory in those circumstances in front of the spectacle we were in front of is just sheer relief."

Wild also spoke about how moments like the one at Valley Parade are what managers live for and are the reward for hard work behind the scenes in recent weeks.

He said: "For a manager at times football is about them moments and about relief, some times you can't celebrate them games as much as you want to so to be able to go home on Saturday night and relax and get a good night's sleep was well overdue.

"You just want something to go your way, you just want something to hold on to and grab hold of.

"If you look at the run through December, January, February every time we have had a little bit of form we have come out second best on quite a lot of them occasions so to come out on top against a team that has been bang in-form was a relief."
