13 Valleys is a new trail running event, with sustainability at its core, that will take place from Friday 29th September to Sunday 1st October in the stunning surroundings of the Lake District. The event will link all thirteen valleys of the UNESCO World Heritage Site together for the first time.

The event is being organised in partnership with the Lake District National Park and 5% from each entry fee will be donated to the Lake District Foundation to support the fantastic work Fix the Fells are doing on the trails.

Race Director Colin Murphy explains “13 Valleys Ultra has been developed as a sustainable event that pays homage to the communities, businesses and landscape that makes the Lake District so special, while providing those taking part with an unforgettable running experience”.

There are four different distances to welcome everyone to this route, each of them promising spectacular trail and mountain running over the fells and round the magnificent lakes and waters. All routes will have regular checkpoints and feed stations to keep fuelled and motivated and the 2 and 5 Valleys routes will be fully waymarked.

The 180km 13 Valleys distance will rank alongside some of the toughest tests of ultra-running in the world. It represents an exceptional physical and mental challenge and as such is open to experienced ultra-runners only. Starting and finishing in Keswick, the loop includes 17 checkpoints and more than 7,000m elevation.

The 100km 7 Valleys and 60km 5 Valleys routes both offer a taste of the big one and exciting, stand alone, ultra-marathon challenges.

The 20km 2 Valleys Trail allows trail runners, and those keen to explore the world of ultra-running, the perfect introduction to the event.

The journey to the start line begins at the point you sign up, with participants supported with training plans, equipment guides, partner offers and the opportunity to take part in skills sessions and training weekends.
