Carlisle bare-knuckle boxer Danny Christie has been named in the top ten light-heavyweight fighters in the world in a new ranking list.

The Currock fighter has only had two fights after his emergence on the BKFC scene last year.

But the 38-year-old is already regarded highly in the sport.

New rankings published by the website Knuckletown see Christie rated the ninth best light-heavyweight - and the top British fighter in his division.

The Cumbrian won his first two fights on the high-profile bare-knuckle scene last year.

He first defeated Terry Brazier in a brutal contest at London's Wembley Arena.

Christie then went on to beat Darren Godfrey with impressive speed at BKFC Newcastle.

The Carlisle man is hoping to make further impact on the bare-knuckle scene after top judges claimed he had the makings of being a "star" in the sport.

Illustrious former mixed martial arts star Chris Lytle, commentating on BKFC’s coverage of the fight, said after his Bristol fight: “We’ve seen great power, great poise, and we’ve seen he can take a punch himself.

“You have to be the hammer and the nail. You have to be great at both of those to be great in this sport.

“He can do it.”

Christie's next fight is yet to be confirmed. The Cumbrian recently sparred with Tommy Fury as the latter prepared for his much-hyped fight with Jake Paul next Sunday.
