A CUMBRIAN husband and wife duo are preparing to open their online gift business, Purple Limeade.

Harry Palmer, 32, and wife Joanne Palmer, 30, both live in Carlisle.

The business will sell stationary and other gifts. This will include enamel pins, stickers, washi tapes, cards, notebooks, and items for bullet journalling. All of the items will be cool, fun, quirky... and kawaii-inspired (the Japanese word for cute).

Harry said: "We're really excited to launch our new business idea, we're already working on the website and have begun working with other businesses that we want to stock.

"It just takes time and we can't wait for our website launch."

The pair hope to launch Purple Limeade in the next month or two.

Joanne owns another shop called Flutter&Fern, and the pair are currently trading at different markets around the country through this shop.

Harry was born in Exeter but has spent the majority of his life in Cumbria, growing up just outside of Penrith. Joanne, meanwhile, is Carlisle born-and-bred.

The couple have three children and Harry works full time as a communications engineer, whilst Joanne works full time on Flutter&Fern - so there is a lot to juggle whilst they prepare to open.

The pair decided to set up a shop because it was their dream to have their own brick and mortar shop in the future.

Harry said: "We really enjoy the experience of people enjoying my wife's artwork and getting to see her customers face-to-face.

"We feel that Carlisle needs more small independent shops that offer something exciting and fresh."
