Askham Hall will become the first hotel in the UK to host a series of new ‘Wild and Mindful’ retreats created by ex-SAS Mountain leader and spiritual guide Krish Thapa this March.

Renowned across the globe for helping people transcend physical limitations and achieve their personal goals, Krish has guided multiple expeditions in Africa, Europe and South Asia.

This year, he is also leading a world-first expedition up Everest – guiding a double above the knee amputee up the world’s highest mountain.

As part of his mission to integrate ancient wisdom and philosophy into busy, modern lives, Krish will be launching his first new three-night Wild and Mindful retreat at Askham Hall in Askham, Penrith, from Friday, March 3 to Sunday, March 5.

Famed as a Michelin star ‘restaurant with rooms’ located in the epic Lakeland fells, Askham Hall has been the home to the Lowther family for more than 800 years and is renowned for its abundance of fresh produce throughout the year from its extensive gardens and surrounding farms and woodland.

As part of the retreat, it is also unveiling a stunning new meditation room overlooking its ancient courtyard.

Over the three days, Krish will be using a variety of Buddhist teachings applied in nature, combining his own extraordinary background and experiences with the beauty and authenticity of Askham Hall.

Activities will range from quiet guided meditation in the ancient medieval hall, to spiritual walks, forest bathing, fire healing and cold water immersion therapy.

Participants will learn about ancient stone circles on the neighbouring fells and enjoy wild picnic lunches, with locally sourced and foraged Michelin star suppers.

Krish said: “My passion is helping people reconnect with the world around them and I hope my own learnings and life experiences can help others as they experience their own spiritual journeys into the wilderness.

“This is the first time I have done a fully immersive wellness retreat, focusing on nourishment for the mind, body and soul in a genuinely awe-inspiring landscape.

“With its authentic ‘back to nature’ approach, Askham Hall is the perfect setting to help people feel truly at peace with themselves and more empowered to cope with the future.”
