A Carlisle City Centre cafe has been handed new one-out-of-five food hygiene rating
Gloria Jean's at 57 Scotch Street was awarded the new rating after an inspection by the Food Standards Agency (FSA) on Tuesday, December 13.
The FSA have determined that 'major improvement' is necessary at the cafe following the hygiene inspection.
As part of the inspection the FSA found that there was 'major improvement necessary' with the cafe's hygienic food handling and management of food safety.
Cleanliness and condition of facilities and building was deemed 'generally satisfactory' in the same FSA check.
In response to the new rating that was awarded by the FSA, a spokesperson for Gloria Jean's said: "We are still open for business and we have a new a chef and a new menu coming.
"Everything mentioned [in the hygiene inspection] is getting addressed."
