Maryport Rescue were called out on Friday morning at 7.15am by Belfast Coastguard to conduct a shoreline search from Beckfoot area to Silloth for a missing person.

The lifeboat was launched with four crew on board and proceeded up towards Silloth where the search and rescue team was deployed in two Rescue Land Rovers to start a foot search, from Beckfoot to Silloth. 

A spokesperson for Maryport rescue said: "While on route two of the team observed a lonely figure on the shore at Dubmil point, contacted Belfast Coastguard and proceeded across the shore to make contact, it soon became apparent that this was the person we were looking for.

We preceded  cautiously to making contact with the missing person, joined by two members of Cumbria Police we escorted the person off the beach into the care of NWAS. Good outcome for all."
