WHITEHAVEN RLFC Head Coach Jonty Gorley has previewed his side's final pre-season game against Castleford Tigers.

Whitehaven face the Super League outfit after being defeated 14-22 by Wigan Warriors at the LEL Arena.

Despite leading 8-0 at the break, Haven ended their second pre-season match in defeat against a young Warriors outfit.

The clash with the Tigers will round-off a mixed pre-season campaign for Gorley's side, who defeated local rivals Workington Town in the Ike Southward Memorial Trophy, but were defeated by the Warriors at the weekend.

This final test for Whitehaven will also not be straightforward as they prepare to face another Super League outfit in Castleford Tigers.

After their defeat against the Warriors on Saturday, Jonty Gorley, Speaking to the Whitehaven facebook page, gave his thoughts on the upcoming clash:

He said: "They are going to be fetching the full-on in the first half of the game and the squad players in the second half, so you thought that was a bit of a test today, fast forward a week and it is going to be even harder.

"I am not bothered about results, even if we had won, even if that scoreline had been our way, the performance was not good enough, we need to be better than that.

"This is what these games are for, maybe we will be better next week."

Gorley also spoke about the benefits of playing top-tier sides like the Warriors and Tigers and preparations for the 2023 Betfred Championship season draw to a close.

He said: "You have got to play these top teams and get tests to make us better for when that Bradford game comes round."

Whitehaven begin their 2023 Betfred Championship campaign on Sunday, February 5 when they travel to the Odsal Stadium to take on Bradford Bulls.
