HOUSE Prices in Carlisle increased more than the North West average in November, data shows.

Prices in the city rose by 0.5 per cent in from Ocotber to November, with Land Registry figures showing that the average house price in Carlisle was £173,774.

This rise contributes to a longer-term trend in the area, which has seen house prices grow by 13.2 per cent and average sale price rise by £20,000 in the last year.

Over the month, the picture was similar to that across the North West, where prices increaed by 0.4 per cent and Carlisle was above the 0.3% drop for the UK as a whole.

In November, first-time buyers in Carlisle spent an average of £147,000 on their property, £17,000 more than November 2021 and £31,000 more than November 2017.

In terms of specific property type prices, semi-detached houses saw the biggest price rise in Carlisle in November, increasing by 0.6 per cent to £177,675 on average.

Detached and terraced prices were up 0.5 per cent whilst flats increased by 0.2 per cent in November.

However, in the face of these rises, buyers in Carlisle paid 21.4 per cent less than the average North West price of £221,000 for a property in November.
