THE OWNER of a coffee shop in Brampton has said they've been 'hit hard and quick' by the pandemic.

Off the Wall on Front Street was given a new three-out-of-five rating by the Food Standards Agency (FSA) following an inspection on Wednesday, December 7.

Following the rating, Off the Wall's owner Emma Goodwin has opened up about the personal difficulties that the shop has faced and that have contributed to what she described as a 'fair' rating from the FSA.

Speaking about the deeply personal issues, Emma said that her family and the shop had been 'struggling to come to terms' with her mother's early on-set dementia.

Emma's mother was a staple in the Off the Wall kitchen, being responsible for all of the shop's baking.

However, Emma admits that the inspection by FSA - who she thanked for being 'very understanding' - 'gave us a nudge' to begin dealing with the issues at the shop.

Coupled with the recent pressures of the pandemic, Emma said that this situation had 'hit us really hard and quick'.

"Food hygiene has always been very important to us," Emma said, with no doubt that Off the Wall would regain its five-out-of-five rating in the near future following the addressing of these issues.
