CARLISLE MP John Stevenson has welcomed a £52,500 Help Accesing Legal Support Grant for the city.
In July 2022 the Government announced grant funding of £3.2m to support vulnerable people to resolve their legal problems, primarily social welfare issues including debt, housing and employment.
Cumbria Law Centre was one of 55 organisations awarded funding from the Access to Justice Foundation on behalf of the Ministry of Justice, with a grant of £52,500.
Mr Stevenson said: "I am delighted to hear that this funding will be utilised in Carlisle.
"It will help many of our more vulnerable residents who are unfortunately experiencing civil, family or social welfare legal problems.
"This will enable people to be assisted to resolve issues at an early stage or supported at the court or tribunal for those cases that progress."
This funding adds to more than £5 million of investment this year, including a £1 million cost-of-living grant, to help organisations respond to increasing demand for free legal advice.
