CHESTER the cat at Carlisle's Oak Tree Animals' Charity has had his successful ear operation.

Last week the charity put an appeal out after Chester had developed a severe ear infection which had been left untreated by his owners.

He had started to visit his neighbour’s garden - which offered him more shelter than his own - and they soon realised that he needed veterinary care for his ear.

Working with the RSPCA it was clear that the owners were unable to provide the necessary care for Chester, and he was signed over to the charity.

Unfortunately for Chester, the ear infection had gone on for so long, he now needed specialist surgery to remove his ear and entire ear canal.

However, that surgery has been a success and Chester is on mend.

The charity said: “He is doing very well and is continuing his post-operation care in the Oak Tree Cattery.

"We hope he will soon be able to further his recovery in the comfort of a foster home.”
