A CROWN court judge is to deal with the case of a 29-year-old Brampton man who has been accused of possessing and distributing indecent child images.

Jon Bamkin is yet to enter any pleas to the two allegations that he is facing. During a brief hearing at Carlisle’s Rickergate Magistrates’ Court, he spoke only to confirm his personal details and say he was not ready to plead.

The allegations he faces are as follows.

* That between September 30, 2019, and September 30, 2021, he possessed two indecent photos of a child.

* And that over the same time period he distributed 10 indecent photographs of children.

After the case was put before magististrates, the court confirmed that all images involved in the allegations are said to be classed as category C, the least serious of the three legal categories of indecent child images.

After hearing brief details about the case, District Judge John Temperley said the case should be dealt with at Carlisle Crown Court. He ruled that Bamkin should appear there for a hearing on February 3.

In the meantime, the defendant was granted conditional bail.

The conditions stipulate that Bamkin must have no unsupervised contact with any child unless inadvertent; and he must not reside at any property where a child is also staying. The defendant must also continue to reside and sleep each night at his current address, in Dacre Road, Brampton.
