WIGTON has truly entered the festive spirit after spectacular lights switch-on with the whole community getting involved in the fun.
From an ice-rink in the Market Hall to Taylors Funfair in the car park, there was something for everyone.
Extra festive cheer was spread with The Nelson Thomlinson School Samba Band leading the Elf Parade.
The event took place on Sunday, November 27.
On the main stage on the evening, music came from Staged Right Youth Theatre, Carlisle Dance Academy, Sh-Boom, drag act Veronica Green, Hardwicke Circus and the Shane Nolan Band (Shane Richie and Coleen Nolan's son).
The lights themselves were turned on by the Mayor of Wigton Christopher Scott and The Wigton Wombles – a group of children who go above and beyond for the community such as litter picking and taking care of their allotment.
Mayor Christopher Scott said the day went 'brilliantly'.
“With the current cost of living crisis it’s nice to put on cheap affordable events for families.
“It was so nice to see kids and families out enjoying themselves after the torrid time over the past two years.
“Seeing people enjoy themselves it’s what makes me proud of what I do and the council,” he said.
The day also featured fun activities such as crazy golf, Santa’s Grotto alongside a raffle with great prizes provided by Stan Palmer, The Barista and Harrison Butchers.
