A SELFLESS student has cut off the hair they have been growing since primary school in the name of a cancer charity.

Nathaniel Morgan has also raised well-over £400 for BBC's Children in Need in the process.

On November 18, the Ullswater Community College student donated his locks to The Little Princess Trust, a UK charity that provides real hair wigs, free of charge, to children and young people who have lost their hair as a result of cancer treatment or other illnesses.

The Year 11 student, from Penrith, managed to reach his goal of £100 within just forty minutes of his Go Fund Me page being set up.

The whole school turned out to cheer and see the anticpated haircut.

A spokesperson from Ullswater Community College congratulated Nathaniel on his charitable act.

"With the support of his friends and family, Nathaniel entrusted the removal of the hair he has been growing since primary school to professional hairdresser and ex-UCC student, Jade Hodgson.

"Cheered on by the whole school, Nathaniel just had time to complete his charity fundraising event before starting his mock history exam that afternoon," they said.

Donations are still rolling in, Nathaniel's GoFundMe page can be visited via https://gofund.me/2c1b00a1

In a post on the donation page, Nathaniel said: "We managed to reach the goal of £100 in under 40 minutes! This means the word to me and thank you so so much for all of your kind donations towards the two charities I’ve been supporting.

"I hope to continue receiving donations and maybe even make over £200 for children in need!

"Thank you again for all your support- and keep sharing that link," he said.
