NORTH Cumbria Integrated Care Trust was caring for 64 coronavirus patients in hospital as of Wednesday, figures show.

The data from NHS England shows the number of people being treated in hosptial for Covid-19 by 8am on Wednesday, November 16.

This figure is up from 39 on the same day the previous week.

There were 69 beds occupied by Covid-19 patients four weeks ago in the North Cumbria Integrated Care NHS Foundation Trust. 

The figures also show that 53 new Covid-19 patients were admitted to hospital in the North Cumbria Integrated Care NHS Foundation Trust in the week to Monday, November 14.

These figures fit into national data that shows that across England there were 5,010 people in hospital with Covid-19 as of Wednesday, November 16, with 122 of them in mechincal ventilation beds.

However, the number of Covid-19 patients hopitalised nationally has decreased by 52% in the last four weeks , while the number on mechanical ventilators was decreased by 41%
