A CARLISLE care home has said they are 'disappointed' after a report from a healthcare watchdog rated the centre as 'requiring improvement'.
Knells Country House, in Houghton, was inspected by the Care Quality Commision (CQC) on August 23.
At the time of the visit, the care home was providing personal care for 21 people using the service.
The inspection indicated that whilst the service received a 'good' rating for when it came to the care of the residents and responsiveness of the home, it received a 'requires improvement' when it came to the effectiveness, safe and well-led categories.
This is the first inspection of this newly registered service, having been taken over since the last inspection in 2019 - which previously held the 'good' rating.

Whilst the report reads: "Some aspects of the service were not always safe and there was limited assurance about safety".
It also indicated that people said they were treated with 'care and kindness'. They described the manager and staff as caring and helpful and the relationship between staff and its residents were very good.
A spokesperson from Knells Country House released a statement following the report, which reads: "The overall report does state requires improvement, which is disappointing, however let’s be clear that the report also does state that the care of our residents is that of 'Good'.
"This has been consistent over the years and has remained consistent within our takeover of the Knells Country House.
"As we are aware the social care sector has been under pressure both during and post pandemic and again even with this added pressure our team have and continue to provide, passion and commitment that enables consistency in the delivering of the good care for our residents that is always at the forefront and focus of all we do.
"We acknowledge where improvements are required and are taking action in making the required improvements and we believe that this will be reflected and evident within our next inspection," they said.
