AN HISTORIC Walled Garden will host a creative Christmas market this month.

On Saturday, November 26, local crafters will join together to sell their festive fancies at Copeland Council’s Christmas market at Distington Walled Garden.

This will be the third event held at the walled garden since it was transformed over the last year.

Goods on offer will include plants, confectionery, antiques, crafts, needlework, candles, cocktails and Christmas creations.

Father Christmas will be stopping by in his sleigh, accompanied by his elves, to give gifts to children. Wooden baubles will also be available to decorate and hang on the real Christmas tree.

Entertainment will be provided by Whitehaven Brass Band and Moresby Choir.

Visitors can treat themselves to a manicure from the Lakes College students, accompanied by a glass of fizz.

The Christmas Market will be held from 10am until 4pm, and will be free of charge.

Andy Pratt, Portfolio Holder for Parks and Open Spaces, said: "After the huge success of our summer fete and harvest festival, we’re very much looking forward to creating a winter wonderland for our residents to enjoy.

"Hundreds of people have joined us, from across Cumbria, for our previous events and we’re expecting that the turnout for this event will be no different.

"There’s so much on offer with stalls, entertainment, Father Christmas and bauble making for the kids.

"There’ll also be plenty of tasty treats to enjoy, and hot beverages to keep visitors warm.

"Our covered market means that whatever the weather, there’s fun to be had by all."
