THIS week our Wedding Album will feature Melanie Housby and David William Todd's special day.
Melanie is a project officer for Cumbria County Council whilst David is a warranty manager at CT Hayton Agricultural Dealership. They both live together in Wigton.
The pair met at a tractor pulling event at Kirkbride in June 2010. David was competing and Melanie was there fundraising for the Air Ambulance with Wigton Young Farmers Club.
They got engaged whilst on a holiday in Wales in August 2020. David proposed on the balcony of the holiday home they were staying in.
The couple were married this year at St Andrew's Church in Aikton followed by a reception at The Greenhill Hotel in Wigton.
The theme for their wedding was tractor pulling and machinery. David competes in tractor pulling and Melanie is the secretary for the national organisation.

The flowers were from Elaine and Jodie of Forrester Flowers. Melanie had a large bouquet of red and cream roses finished with a charm of her grandparents who have sadly passed away. The bridesmaids had smaller versions of Melanie’s bouquet.
David had a red rose buttonhole and the ushers and father of the groom and bride had cream buttonholes. These were mounted on little spanners to go with the theme.
The mother of the bride had a cream rose mounted on handbag and the grandmother of the bride had a cream rose wristlet.

David was taken to church in a Mclaren sportscar driven by his friend Mike Steadman from Caldbeck. Mike then drove Usher Liam from Church to Greenhill. The ushers went to church in the brides parents Audi Q7.
A drinks reception and canapes followed by a four-course wedding breakfast was held at Greenhill for 118 guests. A further 140 guests joined in the evening for a buffet.

The wedding had a tractor pulling and mechanical theme. The table centre pieces were pistons and conrods sat on a mirror plate decorated with a burgundy rose and gypsophila. Around the mirror were candles set-in stainless-steel cap nuts which were made by the bride’s parents.
David made the table name holders out of old spanners along with the initials D & M which was on display. The table plan was hung on a tractor tyre.
There was a sweetie cart for the guests to enjoy. The sweets were displayed in parts boxes and a sweet dispenser kindly supplied by CT Hayton and Nik Morris – David’s Snap On tools supplier.
