A UNIQUE experimental musician will be performing in Cumbria at the end of this month.

Known as Paddy Steer, he has been described as Manchester’s magician of analogue electronics, the Barry White of Scunthorpe, and the king of space jazz.

The king will touch down at The Brickyard in Carlisle for a performance on November 25 at 9pm.

A spokesperson from The Brickyard described the artist: “A highly versatile and anarchically intrepid creator, Paddy Steer’s live performances err more daringly and admirably on the frontier of chaotic abstraction, in a madcap joyride through lounge, romp, deep groove and furry electronic invention.

“As a live entity he’s playful, visually arresting and gleefully infectious, as from behind his stacked array of instruments he gargles through a vocoder with his xylophone, all a-clatter under disco lights and doilies.

“It feels akin to playing and winning a computer game made from reality, to hear.

“He will do things to your brain!”

This is not the first time he has performed in Carlisle, having visited our city earlier this year for Free Radical Arts’ Big Gay Day celebration in February.

Admission costs £10, and tickets can be bought online at SeeTickets, by calling SeeTickets at 0871 220 0260, or by going to The Kings Head, Vinyl Café, or The Brickyard itself.

The venue wants people to know that they only accept cash payments at this time, and that any questions about tickets should be directed to The Brickyard and not the local outlets.
