A 3-day charity music festival is to be held next year at Muncaster Castle in aid of the charity Women Out West.

The Can-UK True North Strong Festival is being held from Friday, June 30 until Sunday, July 2 and will be a celebration of all things Canadian as well as the best of up-and-coming musicians.

One of the organisers, Dan Webber is originally from Canada and had held a Canada Day celebration with friends in previous years on July 1.

A team of three, including Dan decided to put on a large-scale event celebrating the best of Canadian food and culture and raising money for charity at the same time.

A spokesperson for the festival said: “This will celebrate all things Canadian on the anniversary of the country’s formation and it is the place to be this side of the Atlantic.”

News and Star: There will be Canadian food stalls alongside art and craft stands to create a true festival atmosphere.

Musicians and bands who have been booked to play the festival include Chelsea Reynolds, Tom Smith, Ronnie and the Rockets, Year Long and Whitehaven’s own Emma Hunt with more artists set to be announced in the coming months.

DJ Paul Seath will also be performing all weekend including running a music quiz night.
