THIS week people across the world is celebrating the scariest time of the year. 

That's right! It's Halloween time and so many of us will be celebrating the occasion in our own ways. 

This time of year is especially popular with children who will go out trick or treating and young adults who often see it as a major social occasion. 

Even some grownups enjoy this time of year too, as things get that little bit spookier than at any other time of the year. 

Here at the News & Star we asked our readers how they would be spending this Halloween.

One of our readers said that they will be going to a Halloween party something we can imagine a lot of other people will be enjoying too.

For so many of us it is a great time of year to enjoy a couple of drinks with our friends and family. And maybe even get dressed up as something a little scary. 

Halloween parties are especially popular at schools with many places hosting themed discos for their pupils. 

Another reader said that they enjoyed decorating at this time of year. For those Halloween fanatics out there this is especially popular. Shops are jam packed with decorations and of course pumpkins.

It has been tradition for many years now to carve out a pumpkin and place a candle inside to put on display as a jack 'o' lantern.

Some of our other readers mentioned that their children will be Trick'or'Treating. Which is mainly what Halloween is all about nowadays. Children all over the world go knocking on doors dressed in frightening costumes receiving sweets and money in return.
