NEW data from a Transport Focus survey suggests customers were more satisfied by visits to Southwaite's Southbound services rather than Northbound.

The survey which featured responses from 31,000 motorway service customers showed that 91% of users were satisfied by their visit to the Southbound services whilst 90% were satisfied with the Northbound services.

Despite the difference in overall satisfaction at the services being marginal, more data from the survey showed a clearer customer preference when it came to visiting Southwaite.

85% of motorway users were satisfied with the toilet facilities at the Southbound services, whilst 81% were satisifed by the same facilities on the Northbound side.

This difference in satisfcation with the toilet facilties may have proved to be a contributing factor to further data which showed that 25% of customers were likely to recommend Southwaite's Southbound services to others whilst only 13% were likely to recommend the sites Northbound facilities.

In response to the figures published in the Transport Focus Survey, Moto, owners of the Southwaite services pledged to maintain their high standard and invest in the upgrading of the Carlisle services.

A Moto spokesperson said: "we understand where and how we can improve the rest-stop experience across our entire network.

"We are extremely focused on improving our customer experience which is why we are committed to investing £12.5 million in upgrading the showers and toilets across our sites, including both Southwaite Northbound and Southbound, to ensure that all of our sites are up to Moto’s high standards.”
