A SELL-OUT week was had for one Workington Amateur Dramatic Society as they went down to the swamp for a stunning and sellout set of performances of a family favourite.
Workington Amateur Operatic Society (WAOS) took to the stage for a five night spectacular of Shrek the Musical.
The musical was hailed as an 'all-singing,all-dancing spectacular' and it certainly was that.
From the opening number and throughout, audiences laughed, sang and enjoyed the lavish production of the much-loved musical take on a family favourite.
Based on the Oscar-winning DreamWorks film, the musical followed Shrek and Donkey's endeavour to complete their difficult quest, finding unexpected friendships and surprising romance along the way.
Featuring the beloved characters Shrek, Princess Fiona, and the evil Lord Farquaad, along with a host of magical fairy-tale characters, the show was a delight for all who watched as the cast belted out all of the classic songs, finishing with everyone's favourite sing a long 'I'm a Believer'.
Shrek, played by Jack Pike, was a delight, with the grumpy ogre soon realising that he could have a softer side after falling for the beautiful Princess Fiona, played by Phillipa Hawley.
He was perfectly complimented by the hilarious Donkey who was played by Andrew White perfectly, often making the crown laugh out loud with his funny and witty performance.
The evil Lord Farquard was played by Tony McGee and thoroughly entertained all in the audience with his hilariously sinister performance.
It was non-stop joy as audience members watched the characters alongside the superb cast of fairytale characters entertain all who watched.
