SOAPBOX sessions, free bottles of beers and gin to win were just some of the highlights of a monthly networking event for businesses across Cumbria.

Newsquest’s in-Cumbria business magazine hosted its second event at The Halston Aparthotel in Carlisle, which was attended by representatives from more than 50 businesses.

Hosting the event was Emily Wood, Localiq’s head of outside sales, and Joy Yates, Newsquest North Cumbria Editor, alongside sales colleagues Jenny Hanabury, Rosie Bee and commercial head of digital, Josh Holmes.

Jenny Hanabury said: “The next edition of in-Cumbria in November will cast a spotlight on the county's amazing and varied SMEs and the resources available to them to sustain and grow their businesses.
If you're an SME and would like a business profile featured, please get in touch with me at jenny.hanabury@localiq.co.uk”.

Those taking part were Martin Norris from Realise HR; Catherine Delaney from ERA Services and Adam Fearon from Telford Citroen.

Joy Yates said: “Martin, Catherine and Anthony embraced the opportunity to talk about their businesses and were delighted with some good follow-up activity. I’m already looking forward to inviting more businesses to take part later this month.”

The event is a follow up to the response from the September Women in Business edition of in-Cumbria.

This is an opportunity to hear from some of the businesswomen featured, as well as other female trailblazers from across the county.

The format will include a panel section, chaired by Joy Yates, plus networking. The guests will give advice and talk about their journey and there'll be a chance to ask questions.

Current confirmed panellists include: Dianne Richardson, chief executive of BECBC; Gill Haigh, managing director of Cumbria Tourism; Jayne Moorby, head of marketing at Oxley Group; Rebecca Graves, director at NRL, and Joanna Gray, partner and head of audit & assurance at Armstrong Watson.
