PUPILS at Keswick School have performed their version of Anna Kendrick's Cups song from Pitch Perfect.

At the school's annual iPerform event, a lip dub video was created to showcase students' performing arts talents.

The song was recreated in a joint effort between Imogen Cockain, who sang the lyrics, and the music department, who played the tune.

The video featured student iPerform leaders lipsyncing to music as they walked through classrooms.

The whole school then gathered in a spiral on the field to perform a choreographed dance routine filmed by a drone.

Lydia McAllister, iPerform leader, said: "Staff and students all come together and, at the end of the day, you can’t tell who is from what year group or what department: we all work as one.

“For many people, it’s a form of release from the constraints of everyday life and the seriousness of the modern-day world. It allows you to forget about your worries and fears and just be in the moment.”

Head of the dance and drama department Helen Westle added:"The iPerform is a chance to capture that feeling of unity - that we are a team and we are a school. It shows how we’ve got each other's backs and that we support each other.”

iPerform week is also a chance for students to acquire new skills and build confidence, the school said.

Pupils begin rehearsing in advance and practice every lunchtime for the year.

Helen explained: “By the end of the year, they’d all opted for drama.

"They’d had the courage to stand up and perform in front of an audience and that was a real journey for them. Now, they are much more confident students.

“iPerform gives us that opportunity to create a bit of magic that is celebratory of the arts. If we lose our creativity, we lose our humanity. It is what connects us as human beings to each other.”

Next year is the 10th anniversary of iPerform and plans for the performance are already underway.
