THIS week our Trader of the Week is Body Matters in Carlisle, a health coaching service based on Warwick Road.

The service helps people to lose weight and stay healthy whilst implementing healthy lifestyle improvements into their clients' day-to-day living.

Body Matters has recently welcomed a new coach, Louise Benn, to their centre which has allowed them to open the studio again and take on new clients.

They help to support people with health issues but mainly the service is for anyone who feels that gyms and other typical exercise environments are not for them.

They offer two main services, Health Coaching and Movement Matters.

Charlie Doughton of Body Matters said: "The client and coach will collaborate, with the client being the expert in themselves and the coach being the expert in nutrition and behavioural change.

"Together, they’ll devise a step-by-step strategy to reach the client’s goal, one step at a time.

"Clients will be supported in developing success strategies on their own, and in feeling more comfortable with their food choices while also enhancing their connection with food and their body."

She went onto explain the Movement Matters element, saying: "It provides a supervised exercise programme for those looking for a personalised approach to their fitness journey.

"We’re here for the people who don’t feel like fitness centres or gyms are the right place for them—whether that’s because of confidence or anxiety, or health issues such as high blood pressure, type 2 diabetes or a physical limitation.

"People come to us, regardless of their specific goals, so they can stop feeling limited by the things their body cannot do.

"Whether that means struggling to keep up with the family, suffering with discomfort when the move, or just having had a hard time with their health for a while."

Body Matters has had a good response from the clients who have used the service.

One said: "I’d say the key thing is that Movement Matters is totally unique to the client. To your fitness level, body, age, how you feel that day.

"There’s time to ensure that you fully understand how to do the exercise, how to stand, how to grip, when to breathe and even tiny parts can be gone through a few times 'til you feel confident."
