AN internationally renowned street artist and poet has arrived in the Lake District to showcase the areas influence on five great British artists.

Angry Dan's new project will celebrate the area’s historic importance as a location for artistic inspiration.

The work will bring history, culture, and local heritage to life with vibrant colours and memorable rhymes.

Through his unique, colourful, and eye-grabbing work, Dan will celebrate the work of William Wordsworth, JMW Turner, Beatrix Potter, John Ruskin, and LS Lowry - visiting the places that inspired them, then creating five new murals that reflect each artists’ relationship with the area.

For every mural, he writes an original limerick, then paints the verse in his signature typography across a symbolic object.

The work will be painted live, in locations around the Cleator Moor area.

“The Lakes have given us so many greats, from Beatrix Potter’s animal fantasies, to Wordsworth’s Daffodils. I want to highlight the local inspiration for these globally recognised masterpieces in my paintings”, he said.

During his time in Cleator Moor, Dan will also conduct a series of limerick writing workshops with children and young adults at Cleator Moor Community Centre, St Patrick’s Primary School and Montreal Primary School.

Dan will be accompanied by filmmaker Rob Key, who will document Dan’s creative process and their experience in Cleator Moor for a forthcoming film.

The project, Angry Dan’s Lakes Limerick Trail, is funded by iSH Ltd.

Angry Dan recently finished a climate change centred artwork in a new exhibition held at Tullie House, called Once Upon A Planet.
