A spokesperson said: "A fantastic attendance and a wonderful night. Our DPGM Bill Morley opened Provincial Grand Lodge, accompanied by our APGM and a full provincial team.
"Freemasonry at its finest."
Freemason Neil Dixon said: "St Michael's Lodge was concecrated Tuesday, September 5, 1972 at the masonic hall in Carlisle. Many of the founders attended St Michael's Church in Stanwix, so they found it fitting to take the name.
"The lodge banner depicts St Michael from a painting of the window of the church, embroidered by Covent of Mercy in Wigton.
"To celebrate 50 years we have in excess of £12,000 to donate to local charities; we donate annually to fishing, golf, Scarborough Court as well as Hospice at Home.
"This is a small lodge dedicated to charity work."
