A WEST Cumbrian charity have wished one of their patrons well- as he starts on his journey as our country's King, following the death of Queen Elizabeth.
King Charles III, is a patron of well-known West Cumbrian charity Hospice at Home West Cumbria, an organisation which supports people in West Cumbria to stay at home during the final stages of their life.
The charity, which has been supported by the King for 25 years, has wished his majesty well as he takes on his new role.
Brendon Cook, Chairperson of Hospice at Home West Cumbria, said “I take great pleasure in congratulating King Charles III on his succession to the throne.
"As Prince of Wales, King Charles III has been the patron of the charity since 1997 and visited us in 2014 for the opening of our Therapy and Information Centre on Finkle Street in Workington. King Charles III has supported our charity for 25 years.”
The charity also wished to pay tribute to the Queen , saying they will 'strive' to emulate the same kind of service that she did all of her life.
Dr Brian Herd, President of Hospice at Home West Cumbria, said: “We join the nation in mourning the death of HM The Queen and convey our very best wishes to the King and the Royal family, with whom we feel we have a connection through the Prince of Wales’ patronage of the hospice.
"We recognise the late Queen’s lifelong service to the nation and the Commonwealth, and will strive to emulate this in our work at Hospice at Home West Cumbria.”
Brendon Cook, Chairman of Hospice at Home West Cumbria, said: “Queen Elizabeth II died at home in Balmoral surrounded by her family.
"Her wishes to die at home, in familiar surroundings and within the comfort of her close family, is understood by all at Hospice at Home West Cumbria.
"We recognise the feeling of loss and bereavement that not only the Royal family will be experiencing, but also people in our West Cumbrian communities, and indeed the rest of the world. Our thoughts are with you all.”
