AS Helen Skelton is set to be on our screens on Strictly Come Dancing, we looked through our archives to look at what she got up to when she visited her home town again.

Helen was born in Carlisle in 1983, and raised on a Dairy Farm in Kirkby Thore.

She went to the local primary school, and went on to Appleby Grammar School, before graduating from Cumbria Institute of the Arts.

She became a breakfast presenter on BBC Radio Cumbria in 2005, and was, at that time, the youngest breakfast slot presenters on the BBC network.

Skelton was revealed as a presenter on Blue Peter in 2008. Many of us will remember getting in from school and tuning in to Helen on the TV.

Helen still visits Carlisle and gets involved in charitable pursuits in and around Cumbria, paying homage to her home.
