FOLLOWING our report into relinquishment rates in Cumbria, we have worked alongside animal rescues in the area to produce a list of animals still waiting for their forever home.

Jess

News and Star: Meet JessMeet Jess

Meet lovely Jess, who is a 9 year old American Bulldog. Jess loves a cuddle and chilling in the office at the rescue centre. Jess has lived happily around children although the rescue centre are looking for an adult home or one with older children (12 plus). As an older lady, Jess will be best suited to a slightly more sedate lifestyle. She enjoys her walks and generally walks nicely on a lead.

Alfie

Meet handsome Alfie, who is a 6 year old Whippet crossed with a Staffordshire Bull Terrier. Alfie is an affectionate young lad who loves being around people & enjoys a cuddle on the sofa! Alf does like a quiet and calm home so a home without children is perfect for him. He could possibly be rehomed with another dogs and wants a secure garden so he can be free off his lead.

Macey

Meet Macey, she is a 3 year old Lurcher. Macey loves attention, attention, attention and is a very friendly girl. Her idea of fun is chasing cats unfortunately so she cannot live with any small furries. Her other loves in life are receiving cuddles and long sniffy walks. Poor Macey suffer from separation anxiety and cannot be left alone. She can be homed with sensible children.

Toffee

Meet clever little (big) Toffee who is a one year old Belgian Malinois. Toffee isn't your typical dog so she is looking for an extra special home. She is bursting with energy and loves to learn so needs an owner who has lots of time on their hands. Toffee needs a home with owners that are willing to do activities or sports that can keep her mentally stimulated. This friendly giant needs a large garden and a home without kids.

TOFFEE IS CURRENTLY PRACTICING SCENT WORK TRAINING AND HAS THE POTENTIAL TO BE A WORKING DOG.

Ronnie

Meet Ronnie, a two year old Staffordshire Bull Terrier. This big smiley boy is highly excitable and searching for a new home. Ronnie is very friendly and adores attention. He loves his walks and likes to explore every nook and cranny. He needs a decent sized and secure garden he can call his own. He cannot live with any other pets but could possibly live with teen children.

Dougie

Meet Dougie, an 8 year old  crossed with a Bulldog.Staffordshire Bull Terrier. During his time with the rescue, they have seen some amazing progress in his training and behaviour. Dougie would thrive in a home in a quiet location where he can continue to rely on a stable routine. Doug loves to learn new tricks! He is a clever lad so his mind needs to be put to good use.

Magic

Meet Magic, is a 11 year old Domestic Long Hair. Magic is a beautiful older lady who has unfortunately lost her sight. For this reason she will need a spacious home with owners that can help her get used to her new surroundings. Magic is affectionate and although she cant see, she will always find her way over to you for a fuss. This little lady needs a quiet home with no children or other animals.

Kelly

Meet Kelly, an 8 year old Domestic Short Hair.  Kelly loves to be around you for strokes, cuddles and head bumps. She can have a bit of cattitude on odd occasions so would be better homed with adults who will understand that she may like her own space sometimes. Kelly is an indoor cat who requires supervision outside.

Ruby

Ruby, aged 11 years, is looking for her very special home. Ruby came into our care after her owner sadly passed away. She has been used to a quiet home with limited outdoor access. Ruby is a sweet girl who enjoys having company. She would be better as an only pet. Ruby is diabetic and will need to be fed a certain type of appropriate food. Ruby also will need insulin injections twice a day.

Luna

News and Star: Meet LunaMeet Luna

Meet Luna who is a one year old Lurcher. Luna is a very sweet girl, she is full of energy and can be very enthusiastic when meeting new people. She is good with dogs, can walk lovely on lead and is good with basic commands. Luna has spent over a third of her short life in rescue kennels.

Maple

News and Star: Meet MapleMeet Maple

Mapple is a 7 year old Domestic Short Hair. Maple is a middle-aged lady who would love a home where someone is around as she loves human company. She would like to go outside where she can explore or find a sunny spot to snooze. Maple would like to be the only cat but could live with a Cat friendly dog. She can also live with school aged children. Maple has been on shelter for 83 days and has had no suitable interest.
