Cumbria Police have advised that the A596 is closed towards Micklethwaite following an incident.
The A596 Westbound, at Thursby roundabout towards Micklethwaite, at the junction for Whinhow, is closed following a serious road traffic collision.
Police were called at 5:32am today (21st August), to the report of a serious, road traffic collision involving a pedestrian and a Ford Tourneo
Police, and Ambulance attended the scene.
The road is to remain closed for the foreseeable future whilst the road is made safe and enquiries are conducted.

Congestion is being experienced in and around the area. Drivers are asked to plan their routes accordingly.
