A CUMBRIAN dancer has gone viral on TikTok after his amazing moves at the Commonwealth Games in Birmingham.

Dan Rae, now living in London, was posing as a volunteer raking the sand at the beach volleyball event in Smithfield market in Birmingham, before ‘stealing the show’ and breaking out in a dance to the amazement of the packed crowd.

None of the other volunteers joined in with the dance and simply carried on with their jobs, leaving Dan on centre stage.

WATCH: Dan 'steals the show' at the Commonwealth Games

The video has been viewed over 600,000 times on TikTok, catapulting Dan into the limelight including an appearance on Radio 2.

His dance left games officials to say: 'the moves are undeniable… it’s his world, and we’re just living in it'.

"I originally saw the job advertised on Instagram," said Dan, "and luckily I got the job!"

Dan left Cumbria to go up to Edinburgh to study dance on a prestigious course in the Scottish capital.

However, training was tricky in Edinburgh as his studies were hit badly by the national Covid lockdowns.

Dan ‘lost momentum’ as the lockdown meant that he had to have lessons online which was particularly hard as dance needs physical contact.

Fortunately, Covid restrictions were eased, and Dan was able to get back in the studio before graduating.

Dan has gone on to appear at events like Ibiza pride and has even appeared in a TV advert and now specialises in commercial, jazz and hip-hop dancing and hopes in the future to perform with artists like Rihanna and Beyonce.
