BARROW Raiders have confirmed that experienced forward Carl Forster has undergone shoulder surgery, ruling him out for the remainder of the 2022 Betfred Championship season.

Forster, 30, first suffered the injury back in February during the club’s Challenge Cup fourth-round victory over Rochdale Hornets.

He has gone on to make 21 appearances for the Raiders in all competitions this season, 20 of which have been starts.

However, the decision was made for Forster to undergo the operation earlier this week, meaning he will now miss the remainder of the campaign as his recovery begins.

The St Helens-born prop recently signed a new two-year deal with the club, running until the end of the 2024 season.

He said: "I really appreciate all the kind messages I've received in the last 24 hours."

"I'm really gutted to be missing out on the rest of the season, and what looks like could be the play-offs, but I’ll hopefully still be playing my part in the team, off the field, over the coming months."

Barrow Raiders said on the official website:

"We would like to wish Carl a speedy recovery and look forward to welcoming his back onto the field next season!"
