Hundreds of visitors enjoyed the summery atmosphere at a fete over the weekend.
The ‘Distington Walled Garden’s Artisan Fete’ happened on Saturday, August 6.
Local businesses filled a vibrant craft market, selling handmade goods - from soaps and candles to bread and bouquets.
A pilgrim storyteller entertained visitors as they browsed the market, appreciating the thriving garden.
Younger visitors brought along their craft competition entries, with the lucky winners being awarded handmade medals.
The event, organised by Copeland Borough Council’s bereavement services team and parks and open spaces team, was a pilot for similar events to come later in the year.
Councillor Andy Pratt, Copeland’s portfolio holder for bereavement services, said: “I am thrilled at the success of this event.
“Not only was it a great opportunity to showcase local businesses, but it also celebrated our dedicated staff and volunteers, who have transformed the walled garden over the past year.”
Emanuel Flecken, parks and open spaces manager at Copeland Borough Council, said: “The fete was thoroughly enjoyed by all who came along.
“We hope to run similar events later this year, continuing to make the most out of the garden."
For some, the visit inspired them to join in the ongoing volunteer work at the walled garden, according to Copeland Borough Council.
