Kay Andrews, landscape engagement officer with Friends of the Lake District said: "Our ‘Great Landscapes Festival’ is all about encouraging people to connect with the landscape. We want to provide people with opportunities to enjoy the landscape responsibly and to try things they may never have done before.

"It’s an opportunity to get out with family or individually and learn about our landscape, its flora, fauna, heritage and management with events taking place across Cumbria.

"Join a volunteer work party being run by Fix the Fells or a nature walk with Cumbria Wildlife Trust. There are plenty of exciting things for you to get involved in and the good news is that they are free to attend."
