THE SCORES on the doors are in as new food hygiene ratings have been awarded to eleven of Carlisle’s establishments, the Food Standards Agency’s website shows. 

The scheme gives businesses a rating from 5 to 0, with 5 meaning standards are very good and 0 requesting urgent improvement.

And it's good news for all eleven cafes, takeaways, restaurants and pubs as they have all been awarded the top rating of five.

The following ratings have been given to eight restaurants, cafes or canteens:

• Rated 5: Belle Vue Church of the Nazarene at Churh Of The Nazarene, 51 Moorhouse Road, Carlisle; rated on July 26

• Rated 5: Walby Farm Park at Walby Farm Park Walby Grange, Birky Lane, Walby; rated on July 14

• Rated 5: Amatos Ltd at 48 Abbey Street, Carlisle; rated on July 8

• Rated 5: Laing's Coffee Shop at Old Border Garden Centre, Harker, Carlisle; rated on July 6

• Rated 5: The Topiary Coffee Shop at Houghton Hall Garden Centre, Houghton, Cumbria; rated on July 6

• Rated 5: Printyard at 5-6 Old Post Office Court, Carlisle; rated on April 29

• Rated 5: Costa at Cumberland Infirmary, Newtown Road, Carlisle; rated on April 14
