HERE are our Pets of the Week, courtesy of Oak Tree Animals’ Charity.

ELI

Say hello to our sweet boy, Eli. He is a Trailhound aged 7 years. Eli sadly came in for rehoming due to his owner’s ill health.

Eli is a gentle but lively boy who will be a very affectionate companion. He has not lived with cats or children, but would be fine with older children. He did meet one of our outdoor cats and did not react to it so is potentially cat workable (a lot of Trailhounds happily live with cats).

News and Star: Eli the dog, looking for a homeEli the dog, looking for a home

Eli will need to learn about being left alone in a home so will need someone around much of the time initially. He has been kennelled in his previous home so will need to learn house training skills.

He has enjoyed chilling out in our office occasionally, so would be a good candidate as an office boy, going to work with his owner!

Eli has a medical condition which he is likely to need medication for, from time to time. We are happy to discuss this with potential adopters.

TILLY

Meet Tilly, our 7-year-old mare who is looking for an experienced home as a companion.

Tilly is great to catch and easy to lead. She enjoys attention and is happy to be groomed all over, including her head, however, she does not enjoy having her feathers brushed out so will require ongoing training to help her accept this.

News and Star: Gorgeous 7-year-old mare TillyGorgeous 7-year-old mare Tilly

She is happy to have all four of her feet picked up and is good for the farrier. Tilly does not like the vet, especially if it involves needles! She is currently working on this but will need her rehomer to continue the training.

Tilly can live with mares or geldings as she gets on with everyone! She is happy to live out 24/7 with a shelter but will need to have restricted grazing in the summer as she is a good doer.

Tilly would need a home with an experienced and confident handler because she can rear if she feels uncomfortable. Her rehomer will need to be able to give Tilly the ongoing training she needs to build up her confidence with the vet.

Due to conformational issues, Tilly is not suitable to be ridden and must be rehomed as a companion only.

All animals from Oak Tree Animals’ Charity have received full behavioural and veterinary assessments, are neutered, microchipped and fully vaccinated. Horses are passported. Dogs and cats rehomed from Oak Tree Animals’ Charity also benefit from 4 weeks free pet insurance.
