John Stevenson, MP for Carlisle is supporting this year's Summer Reading Challenge for 4-11 year olds.
The Challenge, which is the UK's biggest free reading for pleasure programme for children, encouraging them to carry on reading during the summer holidays is running in libraries throughout England, Northern Ireland, Scotland and Wales.
This year the theme is Gadgeteers, with a focus on science and innovation, organised in partnership with the Science Museum Group.
Over 700,000 children regularly take part in the Challenge by borrowing, reading and talking about their favourite books.
MP John Stevenson said: "I was delighted to be at the launch of this year's Summer Reading Challenge. It's always a great way to encourage children to keep on reading over their break from school in the long summer holidays. This year's theme is particularly exciting and appealing to all."
