FUNDS secured from a housebuilder are set to be used in the redevelopment of a Belah play area.
Carlisle City Council secured £16,454.23 from Gleeson Regeneration Limited in a legal agreement when planning permission was granted for the Deer Park estate.
Funds secured through the Section 106 agreement were earmarked for the improvement of play facilities in the area.
And now the city council is set to use the funds for the redevelopment of the play park in Briar Bank.
The existing facilities are about 20 years old and are in-need of refurbishment.
Section 106 money will be used to make improvements along with 2022/23 play area capital funding.
A report set to be received by the council leadership on Monday reads: “An online and hard-copy consultation questionnaire for play area improvements was produced and widely advertised, with approximately 50 responses received over four weeks.

“The feedback received was used to draw up specification documents for a fixed budget project to deliver upgrades to the play area. This was tendered to suppliers via the City Council’s Play Areas Framework Agreement in April 2022.”
Three play equipment suppliers responded and the contract worth £64,043.59 was ultimately awarded to Playdale Playgrounds Limited.
