PUPILS at Rockcliffe School, near Carlisle, were treated to a visit from a pair of alpacas.

The children, aged between 5 and 7 years old, were delighted to meet and interact with the fascinating animals.

Emma Coulthard, who runs Fitz Park Alpacas, decided to bring them to the primary school as a special treat for the children.

Ms Coulthard said: "We visited the school because the children were very interested in seeing the alpacas and there were also some other animals there the children could learn about.

"They all seemed to really enjoy it as the alpacas are very friendly towards children. We brought two animals along called Barnaby and Boris.

"My son goes to Rockcliffe School and had been telling his friends about the alpacas, I'm friendly with the teacher too so we decided to take them along to show them.

"We do visit schools and we also visit nursing homes and various other places, as alpacas are very therepeutic.

"We do plan on taking the alpacas to other places very soon."
