EMERGENCY services including the air ambulance have been called out to a cyclist who suffered a "suspected medical episode".

The North West Air Ambulance Charity and the North West Ambulance Service attended the incident on the cycle path behind Forth Engineering in Flimby.

Cumbria Police were also alerted to the incident at 3.10pm today.

A spokesman for Cumbria Police said: "Police were contacted by NWAS making us aware of a man having suffered a suspected medical episode whilst cycling.

"There is not believed at this time to be any third-party involvement. The incident is not currently being treated as a police incident."

A spokesperson for the North West Air Ambulance Charity, said: “We can confirm that the North West Air Ambulance Charity attended a medical incident in Flimby, on Friday 8 July.”

The condition of the person involved has not been disclosed.
